We cover Hampshire and surrounding areas and are fully insured with 30 years of experience.

Reasons for removing stumps

Honey fungus, if a tree has died from honey fungus the stump will be used as a host for the fungi to spread onto other trees and and shrubs so it is important they are removed with as much of the root system as is practical.

Replanting Then get your stumps out to make room for more tree/shrub planting.

Unsightly Stumps look unsightly in a lawn and can get covered in unwanted fungi.

Remove your stump and roots reduce the impact of potential damage to mowers and other garden machinery.

Obstructing some space required for any alternative usage.

How a stump grinder works

A stump grinder has a large cutting wheel with carbide teeth that spins around chipping the main bole of the stump and any visible roots if needed within the ground usually to a depth of 30cm leaving nothing more than some wood chips mixed in with the soil, these can usually just be raked back onto the stump site and left to rot depending on the size and location of the stump/stumps.

The amount of chippings created depends on the size of the stump/stumps with bigger stumps can create lot of chip and it may well have to be removed for example from within a lawn area.
